Why interns sublet
Most apartments want a 12-month lease. A summer internship lasts about three months. Sublets from students leaving for the summer are the natural fit, often furnished and below normal rent.
What to look for
- Dates that cover your start and end, plus a few days of buffer
- Commute time to your office
- Furnished, so you only pack a suitcase
- Roommates on a similar schedule. The Vibe Check helps here.

Questions, answered
When should I look for internship housing?
As soon as you accept the offer. Summer sublets are posted mostly February through April.
Does my company provide housing?
Some companies offer housing or a stipend. If yours doesn't, a summer sublet is usually the easiest option.
